CHESTER

Visit Chester! Its mix of history, the unique Rows and undisputed charm, make Chester one of Britain’s unmissable city break destinations.

Each chapter of ancient Chester’s history is woven into its fabric – whether you are following in the steps of Roman Legionaires, Viking raiders or the Norman invaders! Chester has the most complete City Walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral – with Europe’s finest example of medieval carvings – and of course it’s 700 year old galleried ‘Rows’, where shopping is a double delight. The boutiques and one-off stores offering the finest of fashion lie against a backdrop of treasures, antiquity and a vibrant cafe culture where outdoor dining and people watching go hand in hand. For those in search of more culture, there are live music venues, the summer Open Air Theatre, The StoryHouse and The Grosvenor Museum and The Roman Gardens.

And if that’s not enough, there’s Chester Zoo – the most visited UK attraction outside London, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Blue Planet Aquarium, The Ice Cream Farm – a must for the little ones, Delamere Forest and Go Ape, The Boat Museum, Crocky Trail, various castles and country estates, Manley Mere, and the The Sandstone Trail – pretty much on our doorstep.

And all within a short drive, we have The North Wales Coast, Snowdonia, Llangollen UNESCO Heritage Site, The Wirral Coast, Dee Estuary, RSPB Habitats, Shrewsbury, Liverpool & Manchester, Gulliver’s World, and Bewilderwood.

Time your visit to see one of Chester’s many events and festivals for an extra special treat – nobody quite does parades like Chester!
